Minnesota Vikings fans who have been waiting all day for Sunday Night Football may be surprised to learn a new song will be used for the show’s introduction.

Having games on Sunday Night Football is kind of a big deal in today’s NFL. To be featured on the program, teams typically have to be from a big market or have success in the franchise’s recent history.

Although Minnesota isn’t considered a big market, their success has drawn the eye of NBC, where the team will have at least two games on Sunday Night Football during the 2016 NFL season. But there will be something different about the show that may catch fans off guard.

According to an article on the Pro Football Talk website, Sunday Night Football will have a new theme song when it returns to cover the NFL this year.

In the past, fans could enjoy Carrie Underwood belting out the lyrics as she let everyone know that she’s been “waiting all day for Sunday night” but now she’ll be singing a different tune.

After using the familiar tune for a decade, the song will now be a version of Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood’s hit “Something Bad” adjusted to have NFL-based lyrics.

For a bit of contrast and compare, check out this Sunday Night Football theme from Carrie Underwood which aired before the Minnesota Vikings took on the New York Giants last season from the YouTube account of Hauninho:

It will be interesting to see how “Something Bad” will be made into a theme for NBC’s Sunday Night Football, but considering the network’s track record for making the songs decent and catchy, hopes are high that it can be a solid change.
