Duron Carter was ejected from a CFL game after celebrating a touchdown by knocking down an opposing team’s coach.

In his NFL days, Cris Carter was known to occasionally get a little overzealous during celebrations, but his demonstrativeness never crossed the line into behavior punishable by ejection.

Cris’ son Duron Carter has inherited his father’s tendency toward look-at-me antics but not, apparently, his sense of restraint. Thursday night Duron, a member of the Montreal Alouettes, was ejected from a game after knocking over a member of the Ottawa coaching staff during a somewhat over-effusive touchdown celebration.

Video shows Duron making a touchdown catch and immediately heading for the opposing bench to celebrate in the enemy’s faces. That would have been bad enough by itself, but Duron escalates the situation by chest-bumping an Ottawa coach to the ground.

As you  might expect, Ottawa players did not take kindly to one of their coaches being sent to the turf and a bit of a brawl ensued. There’s knucklehead behavior and then there’s knucklehead behavior:

Duron Carter’s football path has been a bit of a rocky one. He started off great as a freshman at his father’s alma mater Ohio State, but academic issues rendered him ineligible and he was forced to transfer to junior college.

After a year in junior college, Carter signed with Alabama but again had issues with his grades. Carter moved on from Alabama to Florida Atlantic but was unable to regain his eligibility and eventually left there too.

Carter entered the 2013 NFL draft but there were no takers so he began taking try outs. The Vikings invited him to their rookie minicamp but were unimpressed with what they saw and elected not to sign him. Carter eventually did land a pro deal, with the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL.

The Vikings would again reportedly show interest in Carter in 2015 as he attempted to get back in the NFL, but how serious that interest may have been we’ll never know as Carter signed on with Indianapolis.

Carter would be cut by the Colts after training camp but return to their practice squad where he remained for the rest of the season. After the season, Indianapolis elected not to sign Carter and he headed back to Canada.

Carter’s NFL future seemed almost non-existent after Indianapolis decided not to bring him back, and he certainly didn’t help himself by going full-idiot and plowing over a coach during an incredibly silly touchdown celebration.

Some Viking fans were actually disappointed when the team failed to land Duron Carter last year. Look at the above video and tell me you’re still upset the team missed out on that guy.
