A Minnesota Vikings jersey is proudly on display along with Packers gear in the locker of Brett Favre at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
2016 is a fantastic year for Brett Favre. The legendary gunslinging quarterback will enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a first ballot choice following an amazing career spanning 20 seasons and 4 different NFL Teams.

However, when it comes to remembering the strong armed passer, there are some groups of fans who don’t want his legacy shared with other franchises. Vikings fans fall into this category along with those who follow the Green Bay Packers, as sometimes the memory of Favre wearing the colors of a division rival are slightly upsetting.
But, realistically, Minnesota Vikings fans know that Favre had a majority of his success with the Packers. Still, it was nice for the boys in purple to get some of that magic, even if it was only for two seasons at the end of his career.
Statistically, Favre’s best season of his career was in 2009 when he led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game, but he failed to bring home a Lombardi Trophy for Minnesota. Still, that wonderful season is overlooked by many fans outside the land of 10,000 lakes.
Here is a photo of the Pro Football Hall of Fame lockers, where Favre’s is the third one in the row, displaying both Packers and Vikings gear as shared from ESPN’s Twitter account:
Yes, some Packers fans won’t like that, but many are also level-headed and reasonable fans. Farve’s seasons with the Vikings are an important part of his legacy in the NFL, even if it wasn’t as spanning as time with the Packers. Still, people like Dave Sinykin, who is the longtime host of Packer Preview on Vikings flagship station, KFAN, see this as an appalling way to treat the Packers legend.
Fans of the two teams should be able to come together and recognize the greatness that Favre had to offer both the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. However, there will always be a vocal group of people who don’t like that Favre’s glory will be shared in the Pro Football hall of Fame locker.
Imagine how fans of the Atlanta Falcons or New York Jets feel. Both those organizations had the pleasure of Farve’s services, with the Falcons using a second round draft pick on him, but yet get no representation in the locker.
ESPN cleared up this locker situation a bit, as the staff at the Pro Football Hall of Fame puts the lockers together.
"“The Hall’s curatorial staff selects the artifacts for exhibit,” Pete Fierle, vice president of communications for the Hall of Fame, told ESPN.com."
ESPN went even further, giving the exact reasons they were given for the two jerseys to be hanging in the locker:
"“According to the Hall of Fame, the Packers jersey is the one Favre wore when he broke the NFL career touchdown pass record. The Vikings jersey is the one he wore when he broke Jim Marshall’s NFL record for consecutive starts.”"

Brett Favre will be one of the individuals inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 6, 2016. He will join an impressive cast of players, coaches and important figures in the sport to be enshrined. Congratulations once again to Brett Favre on his first ballot selection and hopefully fans of the Vikings and Packers can put their bitterness aside for long enough to pay their respects to one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football.
