Former Vikings DE Ray Edwards boxing in Minneapolis

Former Minnesota Vikings defensive end Ray Edwards will be boxing in Minneapolis this weekend, putting his excellent record on the line.

On Friday, August 26, 2016, fans of the Minnesota Vikings will have the opportunity to see a former player take to the ring for a boxing match where he will put an impressive win/loss record on the line..

As a defensive end, Ray Edwards was a member of the Vikings from 20062010. During those 4 seasons, he accumulated 29.5 sacks and 139 total tackles before spending two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

Edwards will return to Minnesota on Friday to take on another opponent. This time, it will be inside a boxing ring.

"“The 6-foot-5 Edwards’ opponent in the bout scheduled for four rounds is Steve Tyner, a 32-year-old from Akron, Ohio. The 5-foot-11 lefty’s record is 3-14-3. This bout is part of the Combat Sport Series, which includes professional boxing and kickboxing. For more information, visit [the venue’s Facebook page].”"

It looks as though Edwards has a pretty mighty swing. Anyone stepping in the boxing ring with him may have to be careful not to be on the receiving end of too many mighty punches from the former NFL defensive end.

As for the fight, tickets can be found through the Facebook link. Cabooze will be the host of the event, and the fight card looks like it will be a full night’s worth of entertainment for any fan in attendance.
