Every summer, NFL teams across the nation enter training camp with high hopes. Teams have brought in free agents and drafted players, believing them to be the missing pieces needed to propel them into championship contenders.

There are certain positions that are essential for any team to have a great season. Everyone knows that a quality quarterback is essential to have any chances of succeeding on Sundays. The head coach is also very important, as a bad head coach can run a talented team into the ground, while a great one can elevate a mediocre group into elite status.

For a team to hoist the Lombardi trophy at the end of the season, many things have to go right. However, one of those things that often gets overlooked by the casual fan is injuries. Injuries are a part of football, and it’s nearly impossible to go an entire season without any significant injuries due to the physical nature of the game we love. While all injuries set a team back, there are some that can derail the season before it even starts.

The following players are the most important to the Minnesota Vikings. They may not be the best players on the team, but they are the most indispensable. If these players were lost due to injury (or suspension), Vikings fans will be left muttering the same phrase we’ve used since 1961: “Well, there’s always next year!”.
