Minnesota Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater did his best Adrian Peterson impression during a juke on Chargers defensive back Adrian Phillips.

Quarterback scrambles are nothing new in the NFL. Many offenses in professional football use this as a part of their regular offense when plays break down. When thinking of the best scramblers, names like Cam Newton or Robert Griffin III come to mind, but very few would think of Minnesota Vikings passer Teddy Bridgewater.

Still, Bridgewater definitely has the tools to get things done. In college, he showed some great mobility despite being a considered a pocket passer. But in the Vikings week 3 preseason game against the San Diego Chargers, the young quarterback had an opportunity to put his skills on display.

Check out this highlight from a scramble, showing Bridgewater tricking second year defensive back Adrian Phillips into committing to the wrong direction when trying to tackle him as shared from the official Vikings twitter account:

Just look at those moves! To make this play even more fun, Teddy Bridgewater did not look like he wanted to slide after the play. If this were the regular season, he may have tried to truck the second defender, but that can be a risky play.

Fans saw what happened with Tony Romo earlier this week, as a preseason hit broke a bone in his back and will cause him to miss 6-10 weeks of the NFL season. The health of Teddy Bridgewater is one situation where the team can’t afford to gamble.

While watching Teddy Bridgewater run like this is great, it would be great if it didn’t have to happen. The Vikings should be working on committing to executing the offense as planned. But it is great to know that if things break down and the situation makes it necessary, Bridgewater can get it done on the ground.
