Offensive MVP: Stefon Diggs

There weren’t a lot of bright spots on offense for the Vikings, as Shaun Hill was predictably unproductive, Adrian Peterson struggled mightily, and the unit failed to get into the end zone.

The performance of Stefon Diggs was certainly a silver lining, though.

Stefon Diggs has been hyped up all offseason by those close to the team, and today offered some insight into why. Even with sub-par quarterback play Diggs racked up seven catches for 103 yards, consistently getting open at all levels of the field. If it weren’t for a Shaun Hill overthrow on a wide open deep touchdown, that stat line would have looked even better.

Diggs proved that regardless of the play of his quarterbacks this year, he will be able to get open, make plays, and provide the dynamic threat that this offense so desperately needs.

It was just one game, and it was more solid than dominant, but today’s victory showcased a lot of the skills that make Diggs an exciting player. With the offense likely to open up as Sam Bradford takes the reins, Diggs should be in position to put up some big numbers.
