Here are some news and notes  from September 14, 2016 about the Minnesota Vikings and their upcoming Sunday Night Football game vs the Green Bay Packers.

There has been a lot going on in the world of the Minnesota Vikings today, from news about the new stadium opening up to more speculation about who the starting quarterback might be heading into Sunday night’s game against Green Bay, there is a lot to talk about.

With all that news going around, here are some of the highlights from the day’s activity regarding the team as well as some looks into the future week 2 matchup against the Packers.

News and notes from September 14, 2016:

  • Congratulations to Eric Kendricks winning his second NFC Defensive player of the week award. 6 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 1 interception that went for a touchdown, and solid coverage all game long! It’s definitely not the last time he is going to take home this honor.
  • Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press has tweeted: “Pssst: QB Sam Bradford took all the first-team snaps at practice today.” Even though head coach Mike Zimmer has been mum on his decision for the Vikings week 2 starter at Green Bay, this looks like a good sign that the Minnesota Vikings will have their new signal caller under center. That hopefully bodes well for increased offensive production in the upcoming border battle.

The importance of as many of the Vikings players being able to play on Sunday is clear, as losing the Inaugural Home Opener at US Bank Stadium would give the Green Bay Packers too much pleasure and Vikings fans too much sorrow.

Another reason it’s important, is because over the 5 weeks following their upcoming loss to the Vikings, the Packers have 4 home games and a bye week: vs Lions, bye, vs Giants, vs Cowboys, and vs Bears. As an NFC North team, the Vikings are aware that no team on that list is a proven threat and even as a die-hard Vikings fan that looks like 4 Green Bay wins in a row.

One more side note not really pertaining to the Vikings but moreso to US Bank Stadium: Caribou Coffee at the stadium will sell 3 alcoholic Vikings themed beverages sold with purple and gold brownie ball included with each purchase! For $12 you can get a 16 oz  Spiked Mint Condition, White Rushin, or more traditional Irish Coffee. These beverages will not be available at any of the other Caribou coffee locations.
