Minnesota Vikings fans should be very proud of this team

After three weeks of the NFL season the Minnesota Vikings are 3-0. Given the circumstances, no one expected the Vikings to start this way. Fans, be proud.

Never have I been as proud to be a Minnesota Vikings fan. This team has lost Teddy Bridgewater, Adrian Peterson, Matt Kalil, Alex Boone, and Sharrif Floyd among others. To be 3-0, with wins against the Packers and Panthers is unbelievable. This team is great. This team really is great.

As the Carolina game got under way I did not expect a win. I tend to be the pessimistic Vikings fan, and I always expect the worse. So, when the game got off to the 10-0 start of course I assumed we were going to be crushed.

“Oh boy, here we go.”

So often we have seen the Vikes get behind early in a game and things snowball out of control. This seemed to be the case when we played good teams. That’s not happening this year. This year we have the best defense in the NFL, and a top 2 coach.

As the Vikings eased their way back into the game I realized that we actually had a shot. And next thing I knew we were winning. The Panthers couldn’t move the ball.

As we continued to stymie an electric offense it became apparent to me why we traded for Bradford. This team has a shot. The offense didn’t look great, but that was sort of expected against Carolina’s defense. They will improve and Diggs will bounce back.

Our defense might also consist of the most unknown superstars in the league. Everson Griffen, Linval Joseph, Eric Kendricks, Anthony Barr, Xavier Rhodes, and Harrison Smith. That right there is a ridiculous defense, and I’m leaving out several players.

When the game ended I hadn’t yet absorbed what I had seen. We are taking the step we had to: We’re beating great teams on road. This is starting to get the feel of a special season, almost a 2009 feel, maybe better.

This year we weren’t supposed to be good after the Bridgewater injury. People counted us out. Anyone who wasn’t a Vikings fan thought we were done. People mocked the Bradford trade. People said we would do nothing without AD. This team is full of winners. Winners and men who refuse to let obstacles stand in their way.

With week 4 and a primetime game against the Giants set it’s time to once again show how special this team is. Vikings fans, applaud your team. No one believed in them and they’re proving everyone wrong. This is a special team and there is nothing wrong with loving what you’re watching this season.
