Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford connected with wide receiver Adam Thielen for a touchdown in the first quarter against the Houston Texans.
In a game where the two teams were expected to be locked in a physical, grinding battle, the week 5 contest between the Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans featured some points very early.
In fact, it was the opening drive of the game by the Vikings that started things off with a bang. Using a mix of pass and run, the team put together a drive that put the Texans on their heels before a big shot paid dividends.
Here is the play as shared by the official NFL Twitter account:
Seeing the Vikings play action, the secondary of the Texans closed in for just a second, and that was all it took for Adam Thielen to use a big burst of speed to get separation from his defender as he streaked toward the end zone.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota offensive line was giving Sam Bradford time in the pocket, and the former #1 overall draft pick from the Rams located the play and let it fly.
The pass hit Thielen in stride, and his reliable hands reeled it in. From there, it was all elementary as the young man continued his run into the end zone.
This play gave the Minnesota Vikings an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter of the game, and really set the tone for the rest of the game. Up to this point in the season, Houston had only allowed one passing touchdown all season and opposing quarterbacks struggled against the tough pass defense.
