A look at the undefeated Minnesota Vikings after the week 6 bye
The quest for perfection
Winning 16 games to have a perfect NFL season is a daunting task, only accomplished once since the regular season expanded from 14 games.
The 2007 New England Patriots were an unstoppable force, until they met up with the New York Giants in the Super Bowl. The 16-0 regular season meant nothing as they now were only a footnote in NFL history, but not NFL Champions.
With 11 straight games coming up after the bye week and the Minnesota Vikings currently nursing a 2.5 game division lead, it a long road to finish off the season. If all goes well the Vikings could be looking at a historic season of their own. The final 2 regular season games are against Green Bay and Chicago. Barring any setbacks those 2 games could come up meaning a lot less than the NFL intended when they made up the schedule.
It’s not that the Vikings are expected to run the table with an extremely difficult looking Dallas team on the schedule, but the rest of the schedule isn’t nearly as intimidating as the front half appeared to start the season.
Honestly anything short of 14-2 looks like it would be a disappointing final result for a team with this much promise. If the Vikings find themselves at 14-0 going into Green Bay, it may be a good week to start the backups.

The same thing goes for the following week at Chicago, but realistically all of the Minnesota Vikings backups could probably handle the full strength Chicago Bears. Follow that up with a first round bye and the Minnesota Vikings may find out they are an unstoppable force in Super Bowl LI against the New England Patriots in Houston Texas February 5, 2017.
