How have the Minnesota Vikings fared with draft selections since their current general manager joined the franchise back in 2006?

In about two months, the Minnesota Vikings and 31 other NFL teams will be making their selections in the 2017 NFL Draft. As of right now, the Vikings will not be making their first pick until the draft’s second round after trading away this year’s first-round selection to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for quarterback Sam Bradford last September.

In 2006, Minnesota hired Rick Spielman to be the team’s new vice president of player personnel. Prior to the 2012 season, the Vikings promoted Spielman to general manager and he has held that same position ever since.

This year’s draft will be the Vikings’ 11th with Spielman in the front office, an event in which he has had a lot of input on whom Minnesota eventually decides to use their selections on.

To get a better, more precise understanding of how well the Vikings have fared with their draft picks under the leadership of Spielman, let’s take a look at a few numbers that reveal the most about the success rate Minnesota’s general manager has had when it comes to evaluating prospects.
