Report: Vikings give Robison a one-year contract extension
By Adam Patrick
The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly extended the contract of their veteran defensive end to keep him in town a little longer.
Despite the fact that he will turn 34-years-old in April, Brian Robison has still been a big part of the Minnesota Vikings’ defense becoming one of the league’s best over the last few years. His leadership in the locker room and his willingness to do anything on the field in order to help his team win has been very invaluable for the Vikings.
Well now he is being rewarded for his hard work as Minnesota is reportedly extending his contract for one more year according to ESPN’s Field Yates.
The extension keeps the defensive end on the Vikings’ roster at least through the 2018 season. Robison was scheduled to become a free-agent in 2018 until news of this extension came about.
The defensive end has spent all 10 of his years in the NFL with Minnesota after the team selected him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft. His stats have never been the flashiest (nine sacks is his career high for a single-season), but his versatility on the defensive line and ability to come up with a big-time play at crucial times has been a tremendous part of the Vikings’ recent defensive success.
Next: Who is playing in their last season with the Vikings?
His role on the field will likely decrease during the next two seasons, but Minnesota knows that his experience and leadership will play a key role in their chance at success in the near future.
