The recent news of Sharrif Floyd’s career being in jeopardy has suddenly made defensive tackle a need for the Vikings heading into the 2017 draft. There was a chance that Minnesota could select one this year because of their struggling run defense in 2016, but Floyd’s situation pretty much forces the team to prepare for the possibility of him not ever playing again.
Placing the 2016 SEC Defensive Player of the Year in Allen next to Linval Joseph would create a frightening duo in the middle of the Vikings’ defensive line. Allen’s versatility as a pass rusher would also keep Mike Zimmer up all night long thinking off all the different ways he could use him out on the field.
