Eighth selection:

Deshaun Watson, QB – Clemson

  • 6-foot-2
  • 221 pounds
  • 40-yard dash: 4.66 seconds

Career stats:

  • 10,168 passing yards, 67.4 completion percentage
  • 90 touchdowns, 32 interceptions

Even if some may not like to admit it, quarterback is a position of need for the Vikings heading into the 2017 draft. They currently have four signal callers signed to one-year contracts and the man who could be under center for the team in 2018 may not even be on the team’s roster right now.

Watson is a prospect that Minnesota could possibly groom into becoming an NFL superstar one day. Like Teddy Bridgewater, Watson won in college and he won a lot.

Dak Prescott and Russell Wilson’s winning ways in college followed them to the professional level and Watson could be the next to follow a similar path.

He also has the athleticism to make something out of nothing if he cannot find an open receiver downfield. Yes he had the luxury of passing to a very talented group of pass catchers while at Clemson, but Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are no slouches either.
