"With the 79th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Ethan Pocic, center, LSU."

The rock of the LSU offensive line since 2014, Pocic was a mainstay in his career in Baton Rouge. With 27 starts at center, nine at right guard and one at right tackle, he checks the versatility box that Spielman and Zimmer repeatedly mention that they love to have in their offensive lineman.

Pocic is abnormally tall for a center (6-foot-6), but he understands how to use his height to his advantage. He has a keen knowledge of angles and is alert in both the running and passing game. With Joe Berger turning 35-years-old in August and entering the final year of his contract, Pocic is a selection that is a candidate to be his eventual successor.

Center Nick Easton is another question mark along the offensive line. Starting just four games in 2016, he did not flash as much as the team would have liked. Pocic could potentially be competition to Easton at center as well.
