With the success experienced by Philadelphia hosting the 2017 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings are attempting to have the league’s annual event take place in their city.

After having the NFL Draft take place in New York for a number of years, the league finally decided to switch things up a bit two years ago when the annual event was hosted in Chicago. The draft took place in Chicago again in 2016 and most recently it was held in Philadelphia.

This year’s event was a major success as the NFL opted to hold it outdoors for the first time and an all-time record, 250,000 people where there to watch everything go down.

With the success that was had in Philadelphia, more teams are now attempting to have the draft take place in their hometown. One of these teams includes the Twin Cites’ own Minnesota Vikings.

On Monday, it was reported by the Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson that the Vikings organization has indeed, officially submitted their application to host the NFL Draft in either 2022 or 2023.

With the Super Bowl taking place in Minnesota at the end of the upcoming season, the team is hoping to land one of the league’s other major events by having the draft take place in their city.

Unsure of how much weather will be a factor in this decision making process, but the fact that Minnesota has been known to have some unseasonably late snowfalls in the past could potentially hurt their chances. However, the Vikings may just opt to hold the event entirely inside given the impressive nature of how their team facilities will be when the draft has been proposed to take place.

If the city was actually awarded the opportunity to host the draft in 2022 or 2023, would residents of Minnesota take advantage of the opportunity to come and boo NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in person?
