Report: Michael Floyd heading back home to sign with Vikings
By Adam Patrick
The former Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots wide receiver is reportedly set to sign a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Less than two weeks after the 2017 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings are reportedly adding another playmaker to their offensive personnel this offseason. According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport on Wednesday, free-agent wide receiver Michael Floyd has agreed to deal to join the Vikings for the upcoming season.
Floyd is coming off a rough 2016 season in which he played 13 games for the Arizona Cardinals, was then released by the Cardinals after a DUI arrest, and then finished up the year with the New England Patriots. In 15 games, he caught 37 passes for 488 yards and five touchdowns.
At 27-years-old, Floyd will add a veteran presence to a group of Minnesota receivers that features a few young up-and-comers in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen (maybe even Laquon Treadwell too). Adding Floyd is also going to force the Vikings to make some tough decisions this summer when it comes to which receivers the team will keep on its roster heading into the season.

With the addition of Floyd this year, Minnesota quarterback Sam Bradford should have a plethora of weapons to throw to on offense. A Vikings offense that seems to be increasing its capability to be one of the NFL’s best in 2017.
