The Minnesota Vikings’ second-year wide receiver spoke about his hopes for 2017 during a radio interview on Tuesday.

Laquon Treadwell’s rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings is certainly not one that will go down as one of the greatest in the team’s history. But 2017 is a new year and a new opportunity for the Vikings’ former first-round draft pick to prove why he was worthy of the team spending such a high selection on him in 2016.

With really only the top two slots on Minnesota’s receiver depth chart known for the upcoming season, Treadwell has a great opportunity this offseason to prove that he is ready to become a valuable asset for the team’s offense in 2017.

On Tuesday, the young receiver spoke with Minnesota’s KFAN radio about what kind of role he wants to have for the Vikings this season.

"“Help this team win ball games. Whatever that may be, whatever it takes. That’s what I’m willing to do. Whether it’s blocking, catching, disguising running off of guys to get open. I’m a team player and I just want to help this team win.”"

He also was not afraid to talk about his not-so-exciting first year in the NFL and what went wrong.

"“A lot went wrong. But it’s a learning experience most importantly. So I learned from it and I’m so much better now in the aspect of the game and what’s expected. Just overall, route running, anything, all aspects of the game I’m just overall better. So I’m just looking forward to competing and going out there and playing with the team.”More from The Viking Age6 biggest draft steals in Minnesota Vikings historyFormer Vikings first-round pick could reportedly return to NFC NorthBears analyst has extremely embarrassing Kirk Cousins take6 Vikings who (maybe) won’t make the 53-man roster in 2023Predicting what the Vikings will do in the 2023 NFL Draft based on 2022"

But despite the difficulties he experienced in 2016, Treadwell is certainly not going to be dwelling on anything that has happened in the past.

"“Last year, no stats matter, nothing matters. (It’s) what you do this year and this league is about what have you done lately. So I’ve got to push it and push my teammates and we’ve got to push each other to get better each and every day and win some ball games.”"

The Minnesota receiver definitely seems determined to make a difference for the team this year. Hopefully he can since the expectations outside of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are currently at an unknown level for the Vikings’ group of wide receivers this year.
