The Minnesota Vikings’ top pick in the draft this year is now officially under contract with the team after signing his deal on Wednesday.

Less than a week ago, the Minnesota Vikings had yet to sign any of their 2017 draft selections. However, after running back Dalvin Cook agreed to a deal with the Vikings on Wednesday, all 11 of Minnesota’s draft picks from this year have now signed their rookie contracts.

Being that he was the Vikings’ highest selection of their 2017 draft class, Cook also received the richest deal out of all 11 rookies.

A holdout was never expected from any of Minnesota’s rookies this year, but Cook’s signing just reassures that from not happening and now the Vikings’ young players can put all of their focus out onto the football field.

Minnesota does not need the young running back to make an immediate impact in 2017, but that does not mean he won’t. The Vikings also have two veterans in their backfield this year in Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon to pick up the slack if Cook ends up struggling during his first NFL season.
