The Minnesota Vikings added another defensive back to their training camp by signing Missouri Western cornerback Sam Brown and waiving OT Arturo Uzdavinis.

There is an old saying in the NFL that a team can’t have enough quality defensive backs. That is the mindset the Minnesota Vikings must have had when announcing the signing of a cornerback for training camp.

The team announced on its official website on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 that Missouri Western State University cornerback Sam Brown has been signed and will be added to the competition at training camp in Mankato, Minnesota.

Brown is entering his sophomore season in the NFL after spending last season with the Baltimore Ravens, where he was placed on Injured Reserve and then removed from the list after reaching an injury settlement, but landing on the team’s practice squad.

The 6’1″ and 180 pound defensive back will turn 25 years old on Sunday and showed quite a bit of potential at the college level by starting 22 of his 45 games played. Over that time, he accumulated 123 total tackles (100 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, and 6 interceptions.

To make room for Brown on the Vikings roster, Minnesota released offensive tackle Arturo Uzdavinis. No information was given on the Vikings website about the reason for his release, but he was only a member of the team for 3 days.
