Which Vikings players are next in line for a contract extension?
By Adam Patrick
Eric Kendricks, LB:
Kendricks has only been in the NFL for two years and he is already one of the best young linebackers in the league. In 2015, he impressed as a rookie, but last season he took his play to a much higher level.
Not only did he score his first career touchdown on a 77-yard interception return, but his 109 total tackles were tops on the Vikings’ defense in 2016. He is the first Minnesota player to lead the team in total tackles during his second career season since Chad Greenway did it back in 2008.
Next: Bridgewater to start camp on the sidelines
Now entering his third year with the Vikings, Kendricks will look to continue his progression into one of the best at his position in 2017. If that progression does indeed reach new heights this season, Minnesota may want to think about extending the linebacker’s contract before he becomes a free-agent in 2019.
