The Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback is a native of Miami and he was reportedly one the options the Miami Dolphins considered pursuing before signing Jay Cutler.

Minnesota Vikings’ fans know all too well the feelings that fans of the Miami Dolphins are currently experiencing. Like the Vikings last year, the Dolphins have lost their starting quarterback in Ryan Tannehill to a knee injury before the 2017 regular season has even begun and Miami had to scramble for a replacement which eventually ended up being former Chicago Bears signal caller Jay Cutler.

Among the options the Dolphins were considering to find Tannehill’s replacement, acquiring Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater at least crossed their minds according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

This does not sound too surprising.

Miami was desperate for a quarterback once Tannehill went down and had to consider all of their options. Bridgewater is a native of Miami and also has friendly relationships with Dolphins’ receivers Jarvis Landry and DeVante Parker, so there are some connections already there between the quarterback and the franchise.

However, Miami was likely scared off by the uncertainty surrounding Bridgewater’s recovery from his own knee injury. He has been progressing well, but the quarterback’s future in the NFL is far from guaranteed especially given how the injury occurred (non-contact).

Replacing their quarterback who has a knee injury with another player who is recovering from a major knee injury is obviously not something the Dolphins felt they wanted to take a chance on at this point in time.

So for now, Bridgewater remains in Minnesota and continues pushing towards his goal of getting back out on the playing field.
