The interesting parts of preseason Week 1
Vikings GameDay LIVE. For the first time ever, I’ve gotten to watch this awesome pregame program. Many fans of this page know I just moved to the St. Paul area from Michigan, where everything was about the Green Bay Packers. It’s nice to have Vikings focused programming here!
Familiar faces. Former Vikings kicker Stephen Hauschka put the points on the board for Buffalo while former Minnesota running back Joe Banyard showed why he continues to get looks from NFL teams after his time with the franchise. It’s nice to see the former purple people doing well.
Sneaking in the pup. It was funny to see the Vikings fan in the crowd who had a dog sitting on her lap. The pup seemed very well behaved, since it wasn’t moving at all and was responding well to being pet by the owner.
Halftime interview with Mike Zimmer. It’s great just how open Zimmer is. When asked what he liked about the first half of the game from the Vikings, he responded by saying ‘not much’, which is exactly what most fans were thinking as well.
Vikings start off the 2017 preseason with a 17-10 win. While that isn’t super important in the preseason, creating a winning culture for Minnesota is something head coach Mike Zimmer always stresses. And since the team has only lost one preseason contest under his coaching, that seems to be important to the team as well.
