The interesting things vs. the 49ers

1. The kicking battle is getting hot!

Marshall Koehn and Kai Forbath have been competing with each other this offseason to be the Vikings’ starting kicker for the regular season and some interesting wrinkles were added to their competition on Sunday. Forbath did not even attempt a field goal kick against San Francisco, but Koehn did and he finished his night making one of his two attempts.

Oh and that one he made, was a 58-yarder.

2. Mike Zimmer was looking stylish on the sidelines

There was a little something that was different about Minnesota’s head coach on the sidelines during Sunday’s game. Zimmer was performing his normal head coaching duties, but all while sporting a pair of shnazzy-looking spectacles.

The coach has undergone eight surgeries on his eye in the past year, so it is understandable why he might be taking a few precautions this season.

3. Football back at U.S. Bank Stadium

After playing their first two preseason games on the road this year, the Vikings finally had the opportunity to play in front of their home fans on Sunday for the first time since January.

Minnesota’s fans are not going to miss out on the chance to see their favorite football team play either as the official attendance for Sunday night’s game was 66,561.
