Multiple reports are stating that the Minnesota Vikings are finalizing a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to bring cornerback Tramaine Brock to the team.
There is no question that the Minnesota Vikings were not overly pleased with the performance of their secondary in the final preseason game of the 2017 season against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
With cut day looming to reach the 53 man roster, it appears as though the Vikings have made a move to bring in a cornerback they were once looking at in free agency according to a source close to the NFL.
News of the reported trade was first delivered by NFL Network and NFL.com’s Mike Garofalo on Twitter. Here is the tweet with the report:
The defensive back should be familiar to fans of Minnesota sports since he played at the University of Minnesota as a sophomore before struggling academically and transferring to Belhaven University for his senior year.
Brock was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent. For a while, he went back and forth from the practice squad to being released before finding a groove and becoming a very solid under-the-radar player as shown by these Pro Football Focus statistics.
Tramaine Brock signed with the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, but didn’t stick around the emerald city for long. It is being reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Minnesota is only giving away a conditional 7th round draft pick to acquire him.
After watching the Vikings this preseason, more depth at cornerback was a necessity. If these reports are accurate, Brock will join a talented group at the position, giving more depth to go along with Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, Terence Newman, Mackensie Alexander, and others.

The good news is that Brock will not be very costly for the Minnesota Vikings either. His veteran minimum salary benefit may have little to no impact at all on the team’s salary cap this season. Best of luck to Tramaine Brock and the Vikings going forward.
