Vikings special teams’ grade: C

The punt team got a bit of work in last night as punter Ryan Quigley had 6 punts which three punts were inside the 20. Quigley has done a decent job flipping the field position and pinning the opposing teams deep into their territory. He could be an important part of the Vikings success this season.

The kicker battle might have come to a close last night as Kai Forbath made his field goal opportunity last night from 24-yards out. While Marshall Koehn missed his extra point kick. Koehn had been perfect all preseason until that miss which could cost him since the Vikings saw too many missed extra points last season.

The kick returning game was okay last night. R.J. Shelton had the longest kick return last that went for 30-yards. Rodney Adams had the other kick return last night that went for 19-yards.

As for the punt return game it was not the best effort for the Vikings. On four punt returns they only averaged 2.3 yards a return.
