Projecting the Minnesota Vikings’ first official 2017 depth chart
By Adam Patrick
Quarterbacks
QB1: Sam Bradford
QB2: Case Keenum
No controversy here, Bradford is the guy who will be under center for the Vikings to open the year. Until Teddy Bridgewater is moved to the active roster, Bradford does not have to worry about getting replaced by anyone if he ends up having a bad game or two.
Running Backs
RB1: Dalvin Cook (Rookie)
RB2: Latavius Murray
RB3: Jerick McKinnon
FB: C.J. Ham
Thanks to Murray missing the majority of the offseason due to recovery from an ankle injury, Cook was able to capture the starting job in the Vikings offensive backfield with solid performances in training camp and the preseason. Murray should still be on the field a bunch this year though, as he will likely be who Minnesota turns to in short-yardage situations.
Wide Receivers
WR1: Stefon Diggs
WR2: Adam Thielen
WR3: Laquon Treadwell
WR4: Stacey Coley (Rookie)
WR5: Jarius Wright
WR6: Rodney Adams (Rookie)
After their outstanding 2016 performances, the top two receivers for the Vikings are pretty obvious for this season. But after Diggs and Thielen is where it starts to get a little fishy. Treadwell should start the year as the third receiver, but rookie Stacey Coley had an impressive preseason and seems capable of leaping over Treadwell on the depth chart at some point this year.
