Report: Sam Bradford expected to start on Monday night for the Vikings
By Adam Patrick
For their Monday night matchup in Chicago, the Minnesota Vikings will reportedly have quarterback Sam Bradford back in their starting lineup after a three week absence.
It has been three weeks since Sam Bradford has suited up for the Minnesota Vikings this season. After throwing for 346 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1, the quarterback has been out of action with a left knee injury.
Apparently, Bradford’s recovery has progressed enough for him to start for the Vikings in their Week 5 matchup on Monday night with the Chicago Bears. At least according to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Sunday.
One would think that Zimmer would not reveal this information to the Monday Night Football crew if he did not believe there was less than a very good chance of it actually happening.
After losing rookie running back Dalvin Cook for the rest of the season to an ACL tear last week, having Bradford back under center should be a nice boost for Minnesota’s offense. It will be interesting to see if the quarterback is able to play anything like he did back in Week 1.
Expect the Bears to send a lot of pressure Bradford’s way on Monday night as Chicago head coach John Fox will want to see just how healthy the quarterback’s knee really is. The Vikings’ offensive line could have their hands full against the Bears this week.
Next: Which Vikings to watch vs. the Bears
Hopefully with Bradford’s anticipated return to the starting lineup on Monday, the Vikings can get a win in an environment where they have struggled to find success over the last decade.
