Minnesota Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon broke a LONG run for a touchdown in Week 5 against the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football.
The Minnesota Vikings had just been shocked by a fake punt by the Chicago Bears in Week 5 during their Monday Night Football game on a play that resulted in special teams scoring a touchdown against them.
When the Vikings took back over on offense, it didn’t look good. Jerick McKinnon fumbled on the kickoff return, but Minnesota was lucky that the ball was recovered out of bounds by the Bears. Just when things were going bad, something very good happened.
Here is the play as shared on the official Vikings Twitter account:
The Chicago Bears struggled to get ready for the play as the Vikings came to the line of scrimmage. After the defense was barely set, Minnesota snapped the ball and quarterback Case Keenum tossed the ball back to Jerick McKinnon.
Deep in the backfield, the running back didn’t look like he was going to get very far since several Bears defenders were in his path. However, some solid blocking combined with elusiveness from McKinnon turned a small hole into a gap big enough to get through.
With a little hop, McKinnon broke through the defense. Sprinting down the field, defenders closed in on him. While a couple of defenders were able to get their hands on him, they were unable to bring him down as he ran into the end zone.
