After just four games, the New Orleans Saints have traded the former Minnesota Vikings running back to the Arizona Cardinals.

In his regular season debut for the New Orleans Saints this year, Adrian Peterson was hoping to, “stick it,” to his old team in the Minnesota Vikings. However, the night did not go according to plan for the former Vikings running back.

During a 29-19 loss to Minnesota in Week 1, Peterson was only on the field for nine whole snaps and finished the game with just six carries for 18 yards.

Since that first week of the season, the performance of the former Vikings running back has not really seen any sort of improvement. In the Saints four games this year, Peterson has touched the ball 29 times (27 are rushes) and gained just 85 total yards from scrimmage.

Given that the 32-year-old running back is clearly not a fit for their offense, New Orleans announced on Tuesday that they had agreed on a trade to send Peterson to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for a conditional sixth-round 2018 draft pick.

After remaining with Minnesota for the first 10 seasons of his career, the Cardinals will be Peterson’s third team in less than a year.

Arizona is hoping the veteran running back will help their rushing attack that currently ranks dead last in the NFL (51.8 yards per game). As for the Vikings, their new and improved running game is currently the league’s 11th best (118.2 yards per game).
