Kirk Cousins to the Minnesota Vikings in 2018? ESPN thinks it is possible
By Adam Patrick
A recent article suggests that the Minnesota Vikings could be a possible team to land the free-agent quarterback during the 2018 offseason.
Heading into the 2018 offseason, the Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to only have one quarterback under contract. That would be none other than rookie Kyle Sloter.
Sam Bradford, Teddy Bridgewater (for now), and Case Keenum all have contracts that will expire after the 2017 season. Bridgewater’s contract could possibly get tolled and keep him with the Vikings through 2018, but nothing has been confirmed regarding that actually happening as of right now.
So at the end of this current season, there is a decent possibility that Minnesota could be in the hunt for a brand new quarterback to be their starter in 2018.
One candidate to fill that potentially vacant spot for the Vikings next year could be current Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins. At least according to a recent article published by ESPN’s Mike Sando.
Sando believes that Cousins may be a fit in Minnesota based on the health of their current quarterbacks and the team’s history of bringing in veteran signal callers during the offseason.
"“With Sam Bradford’s health a major concern and Teddy Bridgewater’s career in question, the Vikings have become a version of the Bradford-era St. Louis Rams: a team that might contend if only its quarterback could play. On the flip side, he also thinks that the Vikings would no longer be in the running for Cousins if Bradford returns to the field this season and plays well enough to get a new contract from Minnesota. But based on what happened with Bradford in Week 5, it may be awhile before the quarterback is able to play in another game for the Vikings this year.
If the Vikings do end up trying to land Cousins in 2018, he is not going to be very cheap. Some say that the quarterback will likely be looking for a contract that pays him at least $30 million per year with more than $100 million guaranteed.

With that kind of asking price, Minnesota may be better off drafting a quarterback next year or re-signing one of their current signal callers rather than spending a truckload of money on an unproven player like Cousins.
