Overall impression vs Washington

This was a huge win for Minnesota. Considering their position in the NFC North and how they are hoping to make a big move for the postseason, defeating a tough opponent like Washington on the road is a statement game.

Offensively, this was a very up and down game. The amazing first half from Case Keenum was shadowed by a second half that found two interceptions and only one touchdown being scored. Adam Thielen continued to prove that he has what it takes to be a top wideout in the NFL, and several players got in on the touchdown parties.

More from The Viking Age

Defensively, this wasn’t the best performance from Minnesota. They typically don’t give up so many points or allow as many first downs, but considering that the offense was able to get points on the board, the defense did enough to win.

Other than Thielen, several other players stood out. Most notably, Tom Johnson, Andrew Sendejo, and Linval Joseph all put together big games and Mackensie Alexander showed that he is making a lot of progress.

Of course, the offensive linemen deserve a lot of praise for not allowing a sack and creating holes in the running game. There were several times Joe Berger or Nick Easton was able to block at least two players on one play, opening things up for Latavius Murray and Jerick McKinnon to gain over 100 yards on the ground.
