Minnesota Vikings defense grade: A+

The Vikings entered Sunday’s contest with the big test of slowing down the number one rated scoring offense in the NFL. The game started off shaky for the defensive unit when the Rams marched down the field on their opening possession for a touchdown.

But after the opening drive, the Vikings defense settled down and went to work shutting down the Rams offense. The Vikings held Todd Gurley II to under 40 yards rushing forcing the Rams to throw the ball with their second-year quarterback. That was a key to the win for the Vikings slowing down the best running back in the NFL this season.

A key moment in the game and for the Vikings defense came late in the second quarter. The Rams were on the move and inside the 20-yard line looking to score a touchdown. Rams completed a pass to their receiver when Anthony Harris stripped the ball at the one-yard line forcing the turnover and preventing a touchdown.

It was a huge play as it gave the Vikings momentum heading into halftime and keeping the score tied at 7-7.

The pass rush was on their game making Jared Goff uncomfortable in the pocket. Tashawn Bower and Danielle Hunter each recorded a sack. It was Bower’s first career NFL sack.

In the end, the Vikings defense played their best game of the season and bounced back from giving 30 points up in Week 10. This unit continues to get better and established themselves as the best unit in the NFL.
