The Minnesota Vikings knew they needed to come out strong against the Detroit Lions during their Week 12 game on Thanksgiving since it was a high-profile NFC North game against a team they already lost to once this season.
Minnesota did just that, holding the Lions to a 3 and out on their opening drive. Then, the Vikings offense methodically took the ball and made a statement by driving down the field for a touchdown.
The first touchdown of the game for Minnesota saw the quarterback connect with the tight end. Here is that play as shared by the Vikings on Twitter:
Despite missing the extra point, this touchdown gave the Vikings an early 6-0 lead and set a fun tone for the game.
A miscue by the Detroit Lions had the Vikings defense swarming on the football, and Danielle Hunter came up with the fumble recovery. Here is that play as shared by the Vikings on Twitter:
The defense has been excellent all season long, and that continued in the first half. However, the offense stayed strong too.
Here is the second touchdown of the day for the Vikings where the quarterback gets it done himself as shared by the official Twitter account of the NFL:
This time, the Kai Forbath extra point was made and the Minnesota Vikings took a 13-0 lead early over their NFC North opponents.
The third touchdown for the Vikings came when Keenum connected with Kyle Rudolph once again for a score.
It has been a good game for Kyle Rudolph, with two touchdowns in the opening half and moving on up the list of all-time Vikings receiving touchdown leaders.
But the highlight of the first half for many Vikings fans is the team’s touchdown celebration where they sat down for a football dinner. Check out that celebration as shared on the Vikings Twitter account:
