The former Minnesota Vikings great recently talked about their current wide receiver and what he has been able to accomplish this season.

Many have heard the story by now. Current Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen grew up in the state of Minnesota as a fan of the team and adored what Randy Moss was able to do on the field during his time with the Vikings.

Fast forward to now and Thielen is the one making the dazzling plays all over the field for the purple and gold just as Moss once did. Cris Carter and Randy Moss used to be the players Thielen would watch on TV growing up and now his name is beginning to show up right next to theirs in the Minnesota record books (mind = boggled).

Recently, Moss was interviewed by ESPN’s Courtney Cronin and was asked a lot about Thielen and the journey he has taken to get to where he currently is. Similar to himself, Moss explained that the current Vikings receiver is quite unique when it comes to comparing him to other pass-catchers around the NFL.

"“The biggest thing to me that really stands out is not really where he stands with the other wide receivers. He has something different than those other guys. The other guys are great players but they ‘wow’ you in other ways. Thielen is not a ‘wower.’ He’s not going to wow you, but he will bring you out of your seat.”More from The Viking Age6 biggest draft steals in Minnesota Vikings historyFormer Vikings first-round pick could reportedly return to NFC NorthBears analyst has extremely embarrassing Kirk Cousins take6 Vikings who (maybe) won’t make the 53-man roster in 2023Predicting what the Vikings will do in the 2023 NFL Draft based on 2022"

Moss knows a lot about being different from everyone else, as this was the case for him during his playing days. No one single-handedly altered the game like the former Minnesota receiver did and not many have come close to making a similar impact since he retired.

It took a little while, but the Vikings, once again, have a special player as a part of their receiving corp in Thielen. When he and fellow Minnesota pass-catcher Stefon Diggs are on the field at the same time, the plays they make are pretty reminiscent to another former receiving duo that used to play for the Vikings in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Now if Minnesota could only find a third guy talented enough to fill the role once taken by Jake Reed, then a new generation of Vikings fans would have their own “Three Deep” to cheer for.
