The Seattle Seahawks cornerback ranked his top five underrated NFL receivers and the talented Minnesota Vikings receiver was among his choices.

Ever since he screamed into the microphone next to Erin Andrews after the 2013 NFC Championship, those who follow the NFL became well aware of the player known as Richard Sherman. Currently in his seventh season, the Seattle Seahawks corner is a three-time first-team All-Pro, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, and a Super Bowl champion.

Unfortunately for Sherman, his 2017 season was cut short in Week 10 thanks to an Achilles injury. Now the Seahawks corner has a ton of time for a variety of activities, including writing a little bit for The Players’ Tribune.

In his most recent piece, Sherman divulges info on who he believes are the top five underrated receivers in the NFL right now. Among the five players he selected is Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

Now, some may be thinking that Diggs is not really an “underrated” receiver, but Sherman has this group of pass-catchers ranked just a notch below the freaks-of-nature like Julio Jones and A.J. Green.

As for why Diggs was among his selections for this particular list, the Seahawks corner gave a variety of reasons.

"“He’s what some guys might call a thundercat. A young kid who comes into the league and is incredibly explosive. He’s fast, he’s quick, and he’s a home run hitter. He can burn you on a deep route or he can catch a slant and take it 70 yards. He’s a heck of a football player. He’s already had a few big games this year, so I don’t think he’ll be underrated for too long. He’s really developing into a big-time threat.”"

Those who have watched him closely in Minnesota know that Diggs is, and will continue to be a special player in the NFL for a number of years. But obviously, the Vikings receiver is doing enough out the field to impress his peers around the league like Sherman.

Also among the Seattle corner’s choices for his top underrated receivers were Jermaine Kearse of the New York Jets, Julian Edelman of the New England Patriots, and Detroit Lions pass-catchers Golden Tate and Marvin Jones.

It is a little surprising that Sherman did not include Minnesota receiver Jarius Wright on this list after what happened in 2014. Maybe he just blocked this out of his memory?
