The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears in Week 17 of the 2017 NFL season and several members of the team got high PFF grades for their efforts.

Week 17 was a big game for the Minnesota Vikings. The team could lock down a bye in the playoffs by earning the second seed in the NFC by defeating the Chicago Bears in front of the crowd at U.S. Bank Stadium.

There were some amazing performances from the game as well since for much of the game it didn’t seem like the Bears were ever serious competition for Minnesota. And those great players deserve to be recognized.

Thankfully, Pro Football Focus is known for their great analysis and shared an article titled Refocused: Minnesota Vikings 23, Chicago Bears 10 which showed the best performances of the game from the boys in purple in Week 17.

  1. Andrew Sendejo, safety – 92.3 overall grade
  2. David Morgan, tight end – 89.8 overall grade
  3. Harrison Smith, safety – 89.2 overall grade
  4. Trae Waynes, cornerback – 87.0 overall grade
  5. Everson Griffen, defensive end – 84.7 overall grade

Of course, it’s no surprise to see Harrison Smith, Everson Griffen, and Andrew Sendejo among the top players. Each of those players are regulars to the top 5 rated players and should continue to be among the team’s elite.

The inclusion of David Morgan is the most interesting thing about the list. While he’s typically considered to be a blocking specialist, he got involved in the passing game and even snagged an impressive throw that looked like it may be outside his reach.

"“Morgan had an all-around performance, catching all three of his targets for 35 yards and earning the highest receiving grade on the team with an 86.0. His run-blocking was spectacular as well — his 85.1 run-blocking grade led a team that otherwise struggled.”"

The other player on the list is Trae Waynes, who has put together some excellent performances lately, even when Xavier Rhodes isn’t at his absolute best. Minnesota’s secondary doesn’t seem to have a real weakness with so many excellent players back there.

"“At halftime Waynes had allowed zero catches on three targets with a pair of pass defenses. By the end of the game he’d allowed 3 catches for 52 yards, but his performance was still overwhelmingly positive”"

Congratulations to these 5 players from the Minnesota Vikings for being recognized for their excellent performances in Week 17 against the Chicago Bears. The boys in purple will have a week off to rest up before they return in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
