After an unsuccessful stint as the head guy in charge with the Minnesota Vikings from 2010 to 2013, Leslie Frazier is, once again, being considered for a head coaching job.

It seemed like a good idea at the time when the Minnesota Vikings officially named Leslie Frazier the team’s head coach prior to the 2011 season. Frazier was the Vikings’ interim head coach for the final six games in 2010 and led the team to wins in three of those matchups.

However, Minnesota only won a total of 18 games in three full seasons with Frazier leading the way and the team decided to let him go after 2013.

Since his departure from the Vikings, the former head coach has spent time as a defensive assistant for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, and Buffalo Bills. With Frazier as the team’s defensive coordinator last season, the Bills finished with the 15th-best defense in the NFL according to Football Outsiders.

Currently, the Indianapolis Colts are still without a head coach after Josh McDaniels backed out last minute and decided to remain the offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots. The Colts are expected to interview a number of head coaching candidates over the next few days and one just so happens to be Frazier.

The former Minnesota head coach was actually a member of the Colts’ coaching staff before he joined the Vikings in 2007. Frazier was the defensive backs coach for Indianapolis in 2005 and during the team’s Super Bowl winning season in 2006.

Colts owner Jim Irsay is reportedly fond of Frazier and believes he may be able to fix an Indianapolis defense that gave up the third-most points in the NFL last year.

Other reported candidates for the Colts head coaching vacancy include New Orleans Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell (who also interviewed for Minnesota’s open offensive coordinator job) and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich.

Thanks to McDaniels getting cold feet this week, Frazier could have himself another head coaching job in the NFL.
