The former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver thinks his old team would be a good spot for the high-priced quarterback this year.

Whoever ends up signing Kirk Cousins this offseason knows it’s probably going to take a boatload of money to do so. However, the quarterback has said in the recent past that he would be willing to take a little less cash if it meant he could join a contender.

Well, the Minnesota Vikings are coming off a season where they came up just one game short of the Super Bowl and they are conveniently in need a starting quarterback for 2018. The Vikings also have around $50 million in cap space, which is more than enough to offer Cousins the kind of money he will be looking for this year.

Would the free-agent quarterback be a good fit with Minnesota? Well, at least one of the Vikings’ former players believes so.

Former Minnesota wide receiver Cris Carter recently explained on FS1’s First Things First why Cousins’ best option is the Vikings this offseason.

Carter nails it when he says that if Cousins came to Minnesota, he wouldn’t have try and put the whole team on his back like he had to with the Washington Redskins. Even if he had an off day or two, the Vikings would still be in the game due to their talent on the defensive side of the ball.

At the same time though, does Minnesota want to pay top dollar to a quarterback who doesn’t necessarily have to be the focal point of their offense? If the Vikings’ goal is to have a balanced offense featuring a good mix of run and pass plays, then they may be better off signing a cheaper quarterback this offseason like Case Keenum or Teddy Bridgewater.

This is definitely one of the most important decisions Minnesota’s front office has had to make in a long time and Vikings fans are really just hoping they make the right choice.
