The veteran cornerback is getting released by the Seattle Seahawks after spending his first seven NFL seasons with the team.

Since that unforgettable moment when he shouted in Erin Andrews face after the 2013 NFC Championship, everyone became very aware of the man known as Richard Sherman.

Drafted in the fifth round by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, Sherman has developed into one of the absolute best cornerbacks in the entire NFL. In seven seasons, he has been voted to four Pro Bowls, named a First-Team All-Pro three times, and helped the Seahawks earn the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl win.

Fast forward to Friday and it appears as though Sherman’s time in Seattle is coming to an end according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

By releasing the corner, the Seahawks free up $11 million in cap space to spend elsewhere this offseason.

So now Sherman is a free-agent. Despite coming off of a 2017 season cut short by an Achilles injury, he should still get plenty of interest from teams around the league this year.

Is Sherman someone the Minnesota Vikings could possibly be interested in signing this offseason?

The Vikings already have one All-Pro corner in Xavier Rhodes, but adding Sherman could make Minnesota’s defensive backfield even more frightening.

Of course, it would really depend on how much the veteran corner will cost. If the Vikings are all in on signing Kirk Cousins this year like everyone says they are, adding Sherman as well probably wouldn’t be the smartest financial decision ever made.

Next: Which 2018 free-agents will the Vikings re-sign?

But if he’s willing to take a little less to join a team that is capable of making the Super Bowl in 2018, then Sherman coming to Minnesota could become a reality.
