NY writer bitter about Kirk Cousins picking the Vikings over the Jets

BALTIMORE, MD - OCTOBER 9: Quarterback Kirk Cousins

The Minnesota Vikings were the lucky team to land the free-agent quarterback and unsurprisingly, not everyone was happy about it.

Before signing with the Minnesota Vikings last Thursday, there was another team believed to be in the running for quarterback Kirk Cousins. Along with the Vikings, the New York Jets and their boatload of cap space were reportedly the final two teams in contention to land Cousins this offseason.

During his introductory press conference on Thursday, the quarterback explained how he casually drove around the Minneapolis area during the week leading up to the Super Bowl so he could check out the place he could possibly decide to move to in the near future.

It obviously had an impact on his decision to choose the Vikings over the Jets.

As is normally the case, not everyone was happy for Cousins signing with Minnesota. Especially the New York Post’s Brian Costello.

Costello is still struggling with the fact that the quarterback somehow picked the Vikings over New York.

"“Are you kidding? Choosing Minnesota over the greatest city in the world? Choosing a place where fine cuisine is a Juicy Lucy (don’t ask) and high-end shopping is going to Target? Remember, Robert Zimmerman left Minnesota to become Bob Dylan in Greenwich Village.Do you enjoy temperatures below zero all winter, Kirk? Minnesota has 10,000 lakes. You know what comes with 10,000 lakes? About 1,000,000 mosquitoes.”"

The New York Post writer also mentioned how some of the comments from Cousins and his agent, Mike McCartney, were disrespectful.

Oh you mean how he boasted about the Vikings’ gorgeous new facilities, their commitment to their core players, and how they have won 32 games in the past three seasons?

How could he possibly pick Minnesota over a Jets team that sent zero players to the Pro Bowl last season, hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2010, and could very well be searching for a new head coach in 2019?

Next: Which 2018 free-agents will the Vikings re-sign?

Some nerve that Cousins had for signing with the Vikings.
