Jarius Wright has moved on from the Minnesota Vikings and is reported to be signing with the Carolina Panthers as a free agent for the 2018 NFL season.
On Friday, March 16, 2018, the Minnesota Vikings surprisingly released veteran wide receiver Jarius Wright to save money on their salary cap after making two huge splash signings in free agency.
Wright was never a bad player for the Vikings. In fact, he became known for the ability to make clutch catches, particularly to convert on third down opportunities, when the team needed him the most.
Sadly, the Vikings have moved on from their former fourth-round draft pick in 2012 and will need to find someone new to fill the role he played in Minnesota’s offense.
However, there were plenty of teams which could use the services of Wright. Since there are so many teams who could use a player like him, it was expected that he wouldn’t be a free agent for too long despite not closing the door on a return to the Vikings.
NFL Network and NFL.com insider Ian Rapoport recently revealed a report on his personal Twitter account saying that Jarius Wright is expected to sign a two-year contract worth up to 3.5 million with the Carolina Panthers.
Here is the tweet:
Jarius Wright will join the recently signed Torrey Smith and returning players Devin Funchess, Christian McCaffrey, Russell Shepard, and more in what should be a new-look offense led by Cam Newton in Carolina.
