The former Chicago Bears wide receiver is now a member of the Minnesota Vikings after the two sides agreed to a deal on Friday.
Following their signing of high-priced defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson earlier this month, the Minnesota Vikings had to make a tough decision when they opted to release veteran wide receiver Jarius Wright.
Well on Friday, the Vikings added a different Mr. Wright to their receiving corp when they agreed on a deal with free-agent pass-catcher Kendall Wright. Terms of the contract are unknown at this point but Wright did make $2 million in 2017 with the Chicago Bears.

As a member of the Bears last season, Wright led the team in catches (59) and receiving yards (614). Both totals were the most by the veteran pass-catcher since 2014.
A first-round pick out of Baylor by the Tennessee Titans in 2012, Wright was ranked by Bleacher Report as the 24th-best slot receiver in 2017. With the Titans in 2013, he caught 94 passes for 1,079 yards and two touchdowns.
What exactly his role with Minnesota will be is yet to be determined. At the very least, he is just another weapon for new Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo to toy around with in 2018.
Perhaps DeFilippo is looking to run an offense that features quicker and more elusive receivers next season. If so, a combination of Wright, Adam Thielen, and Stefon Diggs could cause a ton of headaches for opposing defenses in 2018.

It may not be the splashiest move of their current offseason, but Wright is definitely a solid addition to Minnesota’s 2018 roster.
