NFL Draft 2018: 4 cornerbacks the Minnesota Vikings could possibly select
By Adam Patrick
Jaire Alexander, Louisville
Measurements:
- 5-foot-10
- 196 pounds
2017 Stats:
- 19 total tackles
- 4 pass deflections, 1 interception
Draft Projection: Rounds 2-3
Alexander didn’t play a ton last season (just six games), but he definitely made the most of his opportunities in 2017. The young corner was targeted just 19 times by opposing quarterbacks last season and he only gave up a total of five catches.
Due to a knee injury and a broken hand, Alexander was not able to be on the field as much as he would’ve like last year. His small frame does make him more susceptible to injuries at the professional level as well.
At Louisville, Alexander mainly lined up on the outside. But NFL teams will likely want him to be their nickel corner because of his smaller size.
During his college career, Alexander also returned 43 punts (including one for a touchdown in 2016). So he does offer more than just his skills on the defensive side of the ball.
Don’t be surprised if the Vikings snag Alexander off the board if he’s still available in the second round.
