Ryan Izzo, Florida State

  • 250 pounds

2017 Stats:

Draft Projection: Rounds 6-7

Of the four tight ends included in this list, Izzo is easily the best blocker of the bunch. But that may be the only aspect of his game that outweighs the others.

During his time at Florida State (where he was a teammate of current Vikings running back Dalvin Cook), Izzo was almost an extension of the offensive line. He played well in pass protection and was the lead blocker on a number of running plays.

As a receiver, Izzo is not the type of player that’s going to go out there and break a defender’s ankles with his route running ability. But during the few occasions he was sent out on a pass play, he proved to be reliable.

If Izzo is going to have a career in the NFL though, he needs to cut down on the penalties. 18 penalties in three seasons (mostly holding and false starts) at Florida State is not a habit that can continue on the professional level if he wants to last.
