Maya Washington, daughter of Vikings legend Gene Washington, is entering a movie about the relationship with her father in the International Film Festival.

Before the #84 jersey for the Minnesota Vikings was ever associated with Randy Moss, a first-round draft pick in 1967 wore that number and established himself as one of the top players to ever suit up for the franchise.

Gene Washington was the two-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro player who was part of the 1969 NFL Championship team in Minnesota despite only spending 7 seasons in the league, six of those with the Vikings and his final year with the Denver Broncos.

Named one of the 50 Greatest Vikings, Washington started 66 of his 95 career games catching 182 passes for 3237 yards and 26 touchdowns. However, his biggest accomplishments happened off the field, but later than he may have hoped.

Washington was a hard worker, but is now more of a family man. Soon fans will be able to see that side of him thanks to a film coming to the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival according to the Minnesota Public Radio website.

A film directed by Gene’s daughter Maya Washington titled Through the Banks of the Red Cedar will be shown at the festival focusing on the career of the former Vikings great and his relationship with Maya.

Check out a teaser video for the Through the Banks of the Red Cedar as shared on the film’s official YouTube channel:

This film should be of great interest to fans of the Minnesota Vikings who are hoping to get a different look into the life of one of the 50 Greatest Vikings from the perspective of someone extremely close to the family, especially when it comes to football and his time at Michigan State University.
