Mackensie Alexander’s brother trying out for the Minnesota Vikings
By Adam Carlson
The Minnesota Vikings invited the brother of cornerback Mackensie Alexander to be among 31 players trying out for the team during rookie minicamp.
There have been a lot of great siblings in the NFL. Champ Bailey/Boss Bailey, Tiki Barber/Ronde Barber, Ryan Kalil/Matt Kalil, Mychal Kendricks/Eric Kendricks, and other brotherly duos are great examples of siblings who have played in the league.
If Mackenro Alexander, the brother of Minnesota Vikings cornerback Mackensie Alexander, can land with an NFL franchise, they will become the latest siblings to land gigs in the National Football League.
Mackenro will get a shot to and with the Vikings thanks to being invited to tryouts at rookie minicamp, which started on May 4, 2018. Check out the list of players trying out for the Minnesota Vikings shared by ESPN and 1500ESPN’s Courtney Cronin on Twitter. Pay extra close attention to the player wearing jersey number 31 on the list:
That’s right, Iowa State safety Mackenro Alexander is getting a shot to join his brother with the Minnesota Vikings, and it appears he could have some potential that wasn’t properly tapped into at the college level.
Mackenro only played in five games at Auburn and Iowa State before the 2017 campaign where he saw action in 9 games, accumulating 24 total tackles (16 of those being solo and splitting one of them for a loss).
It would be pretty cool to see two brothers playing for the same team in a Vikings uniform. Of course, the latest same-family duo to draw massive media attention for landing on the same squad is Shaquem Griffin and Shaquill Griffin of the Seattle Seahawks.

The Alexander brothers are unlikely to draw massive media attention with the Minnesota Vikings the way the Griffins have in Seattle, but it’s still pretty cool to see Mackensie’s brother getting a tryout with the team.
