Terence Newman
The water pipes in Newman’s home must be directly connected to the actual fountain of youth because the guy continues to play at a high level despite being on the verge of his 40th birthday.
After re-signing with the Vikings a couple of weeks ago, the veteran corner is preparing for his 16th season in the NFL. With the anticipated retirement of DeAngelo Hall this year, Newman will soon become the league’s active leader in career interceptions with 42.
With none of his money fully guaranteed for 2018, some may believe that the veteran corner could be a surprise camp casualty this year. But with Newman being a Mike Zimmer guy (the two have worked together for nine of the last 15 years), expect the corner to be on Minnesota’s regular season roster.
The Vikings’ likely won’t be pushing for Newman to be their nickel corner in 2018. However, if Mackensie Alexander or whoever they end up choosing for the role begins to struggle, Minnesota knows they have a guy in Newman who can go out and get the job done if needed.
