Continuing to give back to his communities, the Minnesota Vikings tight end has made a donation to help build an amazing fitness center at Elder High School.

The Minnesota Vikings are known for giving back to the community. With the franchise having their own charitable foundation and many players having their own organizations to help the less fortunate, it’s amazing to see so much support from the team to those in need.

Recently, tight end Kyle Rudolph made a ‘sizeable donation’ to Elder High School, where he graduated in 2008, to build a state of the art fitness center for students n the Price Hill neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio according to Cincinnati.com.

The all-male college preparatory school was desperately in need of upgrades to their facilities, and the donation along with funds secured from the school will provide a 19,000-square-foot fitness center to students.

When asked why he made such a huge gesture to the school, Rudolph explained his connections to the school and how he wants others to have the same kind of opportunities he had while attending the educational institution.

"“The main reason I wanted to do it is I know what this place did for me. I was born a Panther. I was born to a dad that went here, grandfather that went here, uncles that went here, I went here, my brother went here and now we have cousins here.So this place is something that’s always near and dear to my heart and I had every resource and every opportunity when I was here to become the man and the player that I am today and I want kids that are coming here now and in the future to have every opportunity as well.”"

The new facility will be large and boast many great amenities and Rudolph’s donation will help the school create and improve the following facilities for their future students to use:

  • multi-purpose room (6000 ft2)
  • weight-training space (5,870 ft2)
  • changing room / locker room / restroom (860 ft2)
  • coaches’ office (520 ft2)
  • storage areas
  • potential classroom / meeting space
  • re-purposing of the Donohoe Center
  • additional parking lot (on the NW side)
